MISSION:
The mission of the CJBBF is to promote international goodwill, friendship, fitness and health for all athletes and fitness enthusiasts living, working, or visiting Japan through professionally run courses, competitions & seminars; we strive to serve as a one stop informational gathering forum for all athletes looking to find greater knowledge and experience in creating the perfect physique or living a healthier lifestyle.
By forging alliances and close friendships with other like-minded organizations such as the Global Classic Group, Marine Corps Community Services, Muscle Contest Japan, IFBB Pro League, and Gold’s Gym Japan, we will be able to provide endless fitness opportunities for all athletes, establishing ourselves collectively as the cornerstone for fitness and health in all of Asia.
HISTORY:
Central Japan Bodybuilding Federation (CJBBF) initially known as Central Japan Bodybuilding & Figure Championships, started in 1998 with support of Yokota Air Base’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation Division of the U.S. Air Force to promote bi-lateral goodwill and friendship through competition for United States Force’s military & civilian personnel in the Pacific Region with their Japanese host athletes. The CJBBF grew in stature from a small localized event for novice competitors to a large-scale competition with the quality of competitors comparable to U.S. regional and Japan national level shows, garnering sold out shows with maximum participation. As the event became more popular the CJBBF expanded its competitor base by allowing individuals from all countries with the opportunity to compete and forge new friendships, establishing a truly international competition.
Additionally, the CJBBF grew famous for showcasing not only the best U.S., Japanese and other country athletes, but also top-rated IFBB world champion professional bodybuilders to provide guest posing/seminar to the multitude of avid athletes interested in creating that perfect physique.
In 2017, the CJBBF dropped its former name and officially became the Central Japan Bodybuilding Federation. First up on the agenda for 2018 was the CJBBF USA-JAPAN Friendship Cup Grand Prix Series - a three event championship series (Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo) that included mainstay categories such as Men's Bodybuilding and Women’s Figure and adding ever popular Men's Physique and Women's Bikini, providing competitive opportunities for a wide variety of physique/fitness enthusiasts to compete. Additionally, the CJBBF partnered with the US military providing high level competition for US personnel and other country athletes at the FAR EAST Championships on Okinawa’s Camp Foster Marine Base, as well YOKOTA and MISAWA Air Base.
2018 also established a much-heralded alliance between the CJBBF and the Global Classic Group, which enabled 8 overall winners, 4 each from the CJBBF Nagoya and CJBBF Tokyo competitions, to an all-expense paid award package (entry fee, airfare and hotel) to compete in the Global Classic Super Bowl IFBB Pro League qualifier at the Venetian Hotel in Macau. Our CJBBF team came away with division wins and high placings in this international competition featuring the best athletes from 37 countries. This final event marked the end of a very successful CJBBF inaugural season.
FUTURE:
We will be always looking forward to creating another great year with more events planned and more opportunities for athletes in Asia. Alliances formed will provide the CJBBF shows with the coveted IFBB Pro League Regional status.
It’s going to be a GREAT YEAR for both the CJBBF and for the athletes and fitness enthusiasts in Asia!!!! Hope to see you on stage or in the audience cheering on your favorite athlete.
